About The Pancake Pantry: A Nashville Tradition Since 1961

Explore Our History

Founded by Robert Baldwin in 1961, the Pancake Pantry has been a Nashville tradition for generations of families. Baldwin’s son, David, began learning the ropes as a ten-year-old, helping the rest of my family build the business as well. Eventually taking over the business in 1988, David would make frequent trips to the hills of East Tennessee to retrieve the specialty group flours used in our pancakes and waffles. Although David sold the Pancake Pantry in 2017, batter and syrups are still made fresh each day from those secret Baldwin family recipes.

We strive to keep our traditional past alive, while cultivating innovative ideas to make the Pantry the best. We feel the same way about our customers by cherishing our long-time regulars and always looking forward to meeting our newest visitors.

Did not even get a chance to eat. Got here got seated with my family and realized that the first... thing on the menu is alcoholic beverages at a place that only does breakfast. I really don't know where to begin which is not typical for me whatsoever. This location is located... in such a beautiful neighborhood with shops to visit within walking distance. There isn't a lot of parking right behind the restaurant for how busy it gets although there is street parking and public parking lot across the street from this lot. When you park behind Pancake Pantry, you have to purchase your ticket from the pay station and then place it in your car. Thankfully our visit didn't include a line out the door at the time that we arrived so we were sat very quickly. There were so many options to choose from including a special for Smores pancakes. The food did not take long to be served. I added the hashbrowns to my order but I could pass on those next time. They weren't seasoned, only highlighted to have been cooked in bacon fat. If they were seasoned and cooked in bacon fat they would have tasted much better but they were very bland. The Smores pancakes were delicious!! I'm so glad that I ordered them since I'm not sure how long they will be served and when I'd be able to return to Pancake Pantry. The pork chop was very, very good. Absolutely no complaints and the lemonade was absolutely delicious. It is not served from the foundation but hand squeezed which made all of the difference. Lastly, the cinnamon cream syrup! I've never had anything like it and now I'm not sure if traditional syrup will ever do it for me again. It cannot be described beyond "just delicious." I was very surprised at how great it tastes and before I knew it I was no longer interested in the maple syrup that is also brought to the table. I'd absolutely recommend Pancake Pantry if you have a chance to visit. Well worth it! Our waitress was kind and quick even though she had many tables to wait on. She did not neglect to check in with us before and after our food was served and when we requested things she didn't forget to bring them back to the table to us. Overall, it was a great experience and I am thankful that this place was recommended to me.read more

Wow! I spotted this on the map when looking for breakfast on Black Friday. This was definitely... the right choice! These pancakes were amazing. I chose the sampler getting 3 different choices. Been awhile since we've eaten here. Food was great again! Line moves quickly & we were seated in 20... minutes from when we got there. Our server was great & the food came out very quickly. All 4 of us got the Small Appetite Plate which was the perfect amount of food for each of us. The Silver Dollar Pancakes were great with the syrups they have. While visiting Nashville, we stopped in at the Pancake Pantry for breakfast and were not... disappointed!I ordered the special which was the cinnamon roll plank cakes and my husband ordered a veggie omelet with a side of gluten free pancakes. Both were super delicious.The atmosphere was electric with wait staff buzzing around constantly, however our server was rarely seen, so thank goodness we didn't really need anything.Before our food arrived, our server dropped off 2 different kinds of syrup to our table, with no explanation of what they were - so I have no idea, but my pancakes were so sweet that I didn't even try the syrup.If you're in the area I highly recommend checking them out.Tip: There was also a parking lot behind the building, but we ubered so I don't know what the charge for parking is, but you do have to pay for parking.read more

Massive portions of really good food. It is so easy to over order and end up with way too much... food, which is fine cause the leftovers are fantastic. We stopped in for breakfast, and it was amazing. Blueberry pancakes with eggs and bacon . We also... ordered the candied bacon OMG. This is the one right here . If you're a bacon lover who likes a touch of sweet with your savory, this is the snack to order. delicious. our service was excellent and the waitress efficient and so sweet. This morning it was crowded with a line down the street so we were ablw to be seated and enjoy our meal. The one downtown is always crowded and the wait is about 30 mins. Plus I love this location as the food taste way better to me! Go have the pancakes and anything else on the menu. You wont be disappointed.read more

We had 8 people in our party, so that probably impacted our experience. The food was good. They... offer basic breakfast fare as well as some sweet goodies like crepes and waffles. And of course, pancakes! The pancakes were that perfect slightly sweet that you expect in the south. The problem was it was cold, or at least not hot. Eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, even the coffee was lukewarm warm. The grits were hot. The service was very good and the servers very friendly. It was not a bad experience but it would have been an excellent experience if everything would have been hot. We were there at 8:30 and seated quickly. When we left at 9:30 the line was out the door. The 3 star rating reflects that when the server presents your bill, the server stands over you... while you review the tip options %/on the credit card swiper. The choices that show for tipping are: 18%, 20%, 25%, or 28%. I find that to be egregious on many levels. I aaked the server for the custom button so I may make my personal choice on what to leave based upon true service and quality and quantity of food.To me, its ridiculous and aggravating to be purposely pressured for exorbitant tips by this business.read more

There was about an hour wait on line outside and then 45 mins for the food once seated but the... Georgia Peach & Swedish Pancakes were worth it. The good thing is once you've received your food if you decide to order something else, as I did (the hash brown potatoes) they bring it right away.read more

Best pancakes I’ve ever had! We got the 3 little pigs omelette, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate... milk- and all were amazing! Excellent service, very friendly staff. Parking on the other hand was awful. You have to have a receipt on your dash even if you only stay there for an hour (1st hour is free), but it’s hard to drive through the area with cars parallel parked, people walking, and it’s super congested. “The line is the waitlist,” and we had to wait outside for about 10 min, but it was just 2 of us.read more

Nestled within an eye-shot of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. The food was very good. They... have breakfast, and lunch/dinner items. My wife and I had an omelette, which also came with pancakes, and all was so very good.The service was very good. The atmosphere was laid-back and not over-bearing, and thus, it was very relaxing.So, to sum up, I would definitely recommend The PP to anyone wanting good comfort food, especially breakfast ( which I can eat for any meal).read more

But the lady didnt follow up with the menue Then it took few... minutes before waitress showed up then waitress asked as what we wanted before she realized we didnt get a menue.We ordered three little pigs omelete. Lets just say it lacked salt to bring it together. Hashbrowns were supposed to be cooked with bacon fat. No bacon flavor taste at all just an oil taste no seasoning. Pancakes without butter or syrup i could taste the leveing agent. It needs butter and lots of syrup to hide that taste.read more
